Empowering you and welcoming your baby into the world are the greatest gifts we have as midwives. When you work with us, it’s not just about delivering your baby, it’s about the journey to that moment and the transformation that happens afterwards.
I love being a midwife! My private practice is currently paused. I am currently a midwife with Boulder Birth & Holistic Health https://www.upliftboulderbirth.com/ You can find me there!

You can start with a midwife at the beginning of your pregnancy or anytime before your baby is born (okay, maybe not while you’re IN labor, but anytime before that.)
Prenatal visits typically last about 45-60 minutes. At each prenatal, we will check your blood pressure, pulse, urine, uterine growth, your baby’s heart rate, and we’ll talk about whatever’s on your heart and mind. Remember, ALL of your questions and concerns deserve to be heard and validated, and we’ll make sure you have the information you need to make the right decisions for you and your family.
At the initial prenatal visit, we will review your health history, a physical health check, and blood work. We meet every month until 28 weeks. And then every other week (2 weeks) prenatal visits until 36 weeks. And then as you gear up for the birth we’ll be meeting every week until the big day!
Myself and the second midwife will be on-call for your labor and birth. We keep in touch during early labor and make plans depending on what is going on. Then, we stay with you in active labor. During labor, we monitor your health and your baby’s well-being, provide support and encouragement, and gently help welcome your baby into the world. Do you want a waterbirth? Yes! Oh, the baby is coming in the hallway! Sure! Being in your home provides the freedom for you to move and labor where you want to. You are the one giving birth, so we will follow your lead. Wherever the birth happens, we have all of our supplies right there to support you and your baby. Right after you give birth, we monitor your and baby’s health and wellness. The whole team is trained in CPR and NRP (neonatal resuscitation), managing a hemorrhage or other birth situations, and making decisions about how, when, and if to transport to a hospital. Another thing that is special about homebirth is that we give you plenty of time and space to bond with your newborn right after the birth. There isn’t a rush to do the newborn exam or move rooms or the other tasks that we will do, but they don’t have to interrupt your special time. We stay with you for approximately 4 hours after birth. We make sure that you and your baby are transitioning well. I do a full newborn exam, which includes any medicines that we have already decided on. We help with establishing breastfeeding or preparing how you have chosen to feed your baby. When needed, we can suture perineal tears. Plus, we want to feed you and make sure you can get up to the bathroom safely. Finally, my favorite part, which is tucking you and your baby into bed for a good, solid rest.
We have scheduled postpartum visits and you can (and should) call us with any questions or concerns - we’re here for you! In your home, I will do a 1 day postpartum visit. With the newborn testing that we do, this visit is usually 1.5 hours. Then we will do a one week visit and two week visit. All in your home, so that you can stay resting and close to your baby. During the first 6 weeks additional postpartum appointments will be added as needed; such as for additional breastfeed support. For the six week postpartum visit, I will see you in the office. Something unique about my practice is that we have 3 additional postpartum visits at 12 weeks (3 months), 24 weeks (6 months), and 48 weeks (11-12 months). Over the years, I have found this time to be invaluable! First of all, you know you have a care provider that you can reach out to if ‘something doesn’t feel right’ during that first year. Second, there are so many changes that happen that first year for you and your baby, that having your midwife available to talk through the shifts can help with navigating these new waters. Thirdly, we get to celebrate you, your body, and your baby every step of the way. Whoever decided that only 6 weeks is an adequate amount of time to recover, heal, and transition from having a baby was not actually taking women’s needs into consideration. Life after having a baby is completely different and we need to honor that!
